Second in the Purtaboi Island series exploring landscapes Sal style. What better inspiration than Vincent Van Gogh', the swirling stars and moon fill the tropical sky above beautiful little Purtaboi Island.

Purtaboi (Mound) Island sits nestled in the bay on the Northern side of Dunk Island with spectacular Mission Beach on the mainland. Tiny Purtaboi Island is a National Park Island, which is closed between October and March each year to protect the nesting grounds of ground nesting sea-birds including Terns.

"Purtaboi - dainty and unique - it's hill crowned with low-growing trees and shrubs, a ruddy precipice, groups of pandanus palms, beach lined with casurinas, banks of snow-white coral debris, ridge of sharp-edged rocks jutting out to the north-western cove and outlying reef of coral, tangle of orchids and scrub ... profuse and old-gold bloom".
