Raider and Camilla

Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius), also known as double-wattled cassowary, Australian cassowary, or two-wattled cassowary, is a large flightless black bird, found in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and northeastern Australia. They have stiff, bristly black plumage, a blue face and a long neck, red on the cape and two red wattles, both look the same, but the female is larger and the juveniles have brown striped plumage. Males care for the young.

This pair were locals at our house after Cyclone Larry destroyed the rainforest around us. Raider was a big dominate female, and Camilla was a young one who had been displaced and needed help from our authorised feeding station to help out until the rainforest grew back.
